What is Course Approval?
The Oregon University system uses the Course Approval system to gauge the rigor of high schools’ college-preparation courses. This ensures that students who meet the admissions requirements are ready to do college coursework. Each high school must update its course offerings each year so that its students may be considered for admission to an OUS institution. Campuses use Course Approval to verify that applicants have met all the subject-area requirements approved by the State Board of Higher Education. Without this information, students could lose opportunities for admission and scholarships.

How does Course Approval relate to IDTS?
OUS is working on linking the Course Approval system to the electronic transcripts received via IDTS. This linking will allow for an automated way of identifying whethere applicants have met the course requirements for college admission, and speed up decision times for students.
